Abstract A Hamiltonian reduction approach is defined, studied, and finally used to derive asymptotic models of internal wave propagation in density stratified fluids two-dimensional domains. Beginning with the general formalism Benjamin (1986 J. Fluid Mech. 165 445–74) for an ideal, stably Euler fluid, corresponding structure systematically reduced setup two homogeneous under gravity, separated by interface confined between infinite horizontal plates. long-wave, small-amplitude asymptotics then obtain a simplified model that encapsulates most known properties dynamics such systems, as bidirectional maximal amplitude travelling waves form fronts. Further reductions, particular devising extension Dirac’s theory constraints, lead completely integrable evolution equations previously considered literature limiting forms fluids. To assess performance models, special solutions are studied compared those parent

Quantum Hamiltonian Reduction in Superspace Formalism
Recently the quantum hamiltonian reduction was done in the case of general sl(2) embeddings into Lie algebras and superalgebras. In this paper we extend the results to the quantum hamiltonian reduction of N = 1 affine Lie superalgebras in the superspace formalism. We show that if we choose a gauge for the supersymmetry, and consider only certain equivalence classes of fields, then our quantum h...
متن کاملHamiltonian Formalism and Spacetime Symmetries in Generic Dsr Models
We study the structure of the phase space of generic models of deformed special relativity which gives rise to a definition of velocity consistent with the deformed Lorentz symmetry. In this way we can also determine the laws of transformation of spacetime coordinates.
متن کاملAdiabatic Faraday effect in a two-level Hamiltonian formalism
The helicity of a photon traversing a magnetized plasma can flip when the B–field along the trajectory slowly reverses. Broderick and Blandford have recently shown that this intriguing effect can profoundly change the usual Faraday effect for radio waves. We study this phenomenon in a formalism analogous to neutrino flavor oscillations: the evolution is governed by a Schrödinger equation for a ...
متن کاملLorentz-covariant Hamiltonian Formalism
The dynamic of a classical system can be expressed by means of Poisson brackets. In this paper we generalize the relation between the usual non covariant Hamiltonian and the Poisson brackets to a covariant Hamiltonian and new brackets in the frame of the Minkowski space. These brackets can be related to those used by Feynman in his derivation of Maxwell's equations. The case of curved space is ...
متن کاملA parcel formulation for Hamiltonian layer models
Starting from the three-dimensional hydrostatic primitive equations, we derive Hamiltonian N–layer models with isentropic tropospheric and isentropic or isothermal stratospheric layers. Our construction employs a new parcel Hamiltonian formulation which describes the fluid as a continuum of Hamiltonian ordinary differential equations bound together by integral transport laws. In particular, we ...
